The video contains both performance and narrative throughout. Both the narrative and the performance take place in a wooded area, possibly a forest, to make the two elements seem linked. As the light fades and the sky gets darker in the narrative, it also does so in the performance so again this makes them seem like they are happening at the same time in the same place. The narrative portrays a little boy in the woods at night being watched by what turns out to be a demonic vampire-like girl. In the end he stakes a note saying 'I won't give up on you' into a tree with his penknife, which are lyrics from the song's chorus so this further links the song to the visuals.
